3x4 Matrix Keypad

This 3×4 matrix keypad provides 12 buttons (0–9, *, #) in a sturdy, rigid format. It uses a matrix scanning arrangement requiring only 7 pins to read all 12 keys, making it efficient to connect to Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and other microcontrollers.

Header pins are included for breadboard use (some light soldering required to attach). The keypad works well with the Arduino Keypad library with minor adjustments for the pin order.

Key Features

  • 12-Key Layout – Standard telephone-style 3×4 arrangement (0–9, *, #)
  • Rigid Construction – Sturdier than membrane keypads
  • Matrix Scanning – Only 7 I/O pins required (3 columns + 4 rows)
  • Breadboard Compatible – Header pins included for easy prototyping

Pin Order

Note that the rows and columns are intermixed. The order from left to right is: COL2, ROW1, COL1, ROW4, COL3, ROW3, ROW2.

Ideal For

  • Security keypads and access control projects
  • Menu navigation interfaces
  • Data entry and calculator projects
  • Arduino and microcontroller input

Package Contents

  • 1× 3×4 matrix keypad
  • Header pins (requires soldering)
Tip: Also available: Membrane 3×4 Matrix Keypad (flexible version) and 4×4 Matrix Keypad (16-key version).
