74AHCT125 - Quad Level-Shifter (3V to 5V) [74AHCT125]

A quad level-shifting buffer IC that excels at converting 3V logic signals up to 5V. Power the 74AHCT125 with 5V and it will cleanly detect 3.3V logic inputs — particularly useful when connecting devices like Teensy 3.x to NeoPixels or other 5V peripherals.

To use, apply 5V to VCC, connect GND, and tie the /OE (output enable) pins low. Data enters on the A pins and exits on the corresponding Y pins. You can also power it at 3V to safely read 5V logic inputs for stepping down voltage levels.

Key Features

  • Quad Buffer/Level Shifter – Four independent channels
  • 3V to 5V Shifting – Optimised for upshifting 3.3V logic to 5V
  • 5V to 3V Capable – Power at 3V to safely read 5V inputs
  • Output Enable – Individual /OE pins for each channel
  • DIP Package – Breadboard and perfboard friendly

Ideal For

  • Connecting 3.3V microcontrollers to 5V NeoPixels/WS2812B
  • Raspberry Pi to 5V peripheral interfacing
  • Mixed-voltage digital circuits
