Adafruit ADG728 1-to-8 Analog Matrix Switch
The Adafruit ADG728 is a solid-state 1-to-8 analog matrix switch controlled over I2C. Unlike relays, analog switches have no moving parts, won't wear out, and switch in approximately 100 ns. Use it to route up to 8 analog signals (up to 5V) to a single common pin, or vice versa — the signal path is fully bidirectional.
The ADG728 features 8 independent switches rather than a simple multiplexer, so you can turn on multiple switches simultaneously to merge signals together, or use it as a traditional SP8T selector. Break-before-make switching ensures clean transitions between channels.
Key Features
- 8 Independent Switches – Route any combination of 8 signals to a single D pin
- I2C Controlled – Simple digital control of all 8 channels
- Fast Switching – Approximately 100 ns switch time
- Break-Before-Make – Deselected switches open before selected switches close
- Bidirectional – Signal path works in either direction
- Configurable Address – Default 0x4C, adjustable to 0x4D/0x4E/0x4F via address pins
- Reset Pin – Instantly set all switches to open
- STEMMA QT / Qwiic Connectors – Solderless I2C connection
- Signal Voltage – Supports analog signals up to 5V
Also Available
- ADG729 Dual 1-to-4 Analog Matrix Switch – Two independent 4-channel groups with separate D pins
Ideal For
- Analog signal routing and selection
- Sensor multiplexing
- Audio signal switching
- Test and measurement systems
