Adafruit ADG728 1-to-8 Analog Matrix Switch

The Adafruit ADG728 is a solid-state 1-to-8 analog matrix switch controlled over I2C. Unlike relays, analog switches have no moving parts, won't wear out, and switch in approximately 100 ns. Use it to route up to 8 analog signals (up to 5V) to a single common pin, or vice versa — the signal path is fully bidirectional.

The ADG728 features 8 independent switches rather than a simple multiplexer, so you can turn on multiple switches simultaneously to merge signals together, or use it as a traditional SP8T selector. Break-before-make switching ensures clean transitions between channels.

Key Features

  • 8 Independent Switches – Route any combination of 8 signals to a single D pin
  • I2C Controlled – Simple digital control of all 8 channels
  • Fast Switching – Approximately 100 ns switch time
  • Break-Before-Make – Deselected switches open before selected switches close
  • Bidirectional – Signal path works in either direction
  • Configurable Address – Default 0x4C, adjustable to 0x4D/0x4E/0x4F via address pins
  • Reset Pin – Instantly set all switches to open
  • STEMMA QT / Qwiic Connectors – Solderless I2C connection
  • Signal Voltage – Supports analog signals up to 5V

Also Available

Ideal For

  • Analog signal routing and selection
  • Sensor multiplexing
  • Audio signal switching
  • Test and measurement systems

Package Contents

  • 1× Adafruit ADG728 1-to-8 Analog Matrix Switch Breakout
Important: The Vin power pin must be at least as high as the highest analog voltage you want to switch. This switch cannot handle negative voltages and is designed for signal routing only — not for sourcing or sinking power (more than a few mA).
