Adafruit ICM-20649 Wide Range ±30g ±4000dps 6-DoF IMU
The Adafruit ICM-20649 breakout features a wide-range 6-DoF IMU capable of measuring up to ±30g acceleration and ±4000°/s gyroscope rotation — roughly double the range of standard IMUs. When typical ±16g accelerometers and ±2000°/s gyros aren't enough, this sensor delivers the extended measurement range needed for high-impact and fast-rotation applications.
Mounted on a breadboard-friendly breakout with onboard voltage regulation and level shifting, this board works with both 3.3V and 5V logic. STEMMA QT / Qwiic connectors provide solderless I2C hookup, and Adafruit provides ready-to-use Arduino and Python libraries.
Key Features
- ±30g Accelerometer – Wide-range 3-axis acceleration measurement for high-impact applications
- ±4000°/s Gyroscope – Extended 3-axis angular rate sensing for fast rotations
- 6 Degrees of Freedom – Combined accelerometer and gyroscope in a single sensor
- STEMMA QT / Qwiic Connectors – Solderless I2C connection with daisy-chain support
- 3.3V & 5V Compatible – Onboard voltage regulator and level shifting for broad compatibility
- I2C Interface – Simple two-wire data connection plus power
- Breadboard-Friendly – Standard breakout board format with 0.1" header pitch
Ideal For
- Sports analytics — golf swings, soccer kicks, and high-impact motion tracking
- Motorsport and racing telemetry requiring extended G-force measurement
- Robotics and drone applications with fast rotational movements
- Any project where standard ±16g / ±2000°/s IMU ranges are insufficient
Package Contents
- 1× Adafruit ICM-20649 Wide Range 6-DoF IMU Breakout
- 1× Header Strip
