Adafruit VEML6075 UVA UVB and UV Index Sensor Breakout
The Adafruit VEML6075 is a dual-band UV sensor from Vishay that measures both UVA and UVB light with true UV-spectrum photodiodes. An integrated I2C-controlled ADC handles readings and integration, while built-in calibration registers allow you to calculate the UV Index directly from the sensor data.
Compared to other UV sensors, the VEML6075 offers a significant upgrade — it has genuine UV photodiodes (unlike the Si1145's light-level approximation) and dual-band UVA/UVB detection with UV Index calculation (unlike the single-band VEML6070). The breakout includes a voltage regulator and level shifting for 3.3V and 5V compatibility.
Key Features
- Dual-Band UV Sensing – Separate UVA and UVB photodiodes for accurate UV measurement
- UV Index Calculation – Built-in calibration registers for converting raw data to UV Index
- I2C Interface – Simple two-wire communication with integrated ADC
- 3.3V and 5V Compatible – On-board voltage regulator and level shifting
- Compact Breakout – Small PCB with all support circuitry included
Ideal For
- UV exposure monitoring for wearables and outdoor projects
- Weather stations with UV Index reporting
- Sunscreen and UV safety applications
- Environmental and agricultural UV monitoring
Package Contents
- 1× Adafruit VEML6075 UVA/UVB Sensor Breakout (assembled and tested)
