ESP-EYE Development Board V2.1

The ESP-EYE is a compact ESP32-based development board from Espressif designed for face detection, face recognition, and speech recognition applications. It combines an ESP32 with 8 MB PSRAM and 4 MB flash, a 2-megapixel camera, and a digital microphone in a miniature form factor.

All processing runs on-chip — no cloud connectivity required. The board includes buttons and LEDs for basic control and configuration, and creates a Wi-Fi access point for streaming video to a web browser.

Getting Started

  1. Connect the board to a computer via USB
  2. Open a serial connection at 115,200 baud
  3. When the red LED is lit, say the wake word "Hi Lehshin" to activate
  4. The red LED will blink — connect to the Wi-Fi access point created by the board
  5. Open a browser and navigate to http://192.168.4.1/face_stream
  6. Point the camera at faces to see recognition boxes (~2 fps)
