Geiger Tube
A Geiger-Müller tube for detecting ionizing radiation. This LND-712 tube is made of thin-walled stainless steel and filled with a low-pressure mixture of neon and halogen gases. When ionising radiation passes through the tube, short pulses of current flow from the negative to the positive electrode, which can be measured or counted by an external circuit.
The tube requires a high-voltage supply — 325V DC minimum, 500V DC recommended. See the datasheet for a reference application circuit. This is the same tube used on the SparkFun Geiger Counter development board.
