Gravity: Analog Waterproof Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor
The Gravity Analogue Waterproof Capacitive Soil Moisture Sensor from DFRobot measures soil moisture using capacitive sensing rather than resistive probes, offering significantly better corrosion resistance and longer lifespan. The sensor is fully waterproof and can operate even when completely submerged.
A built-in voltage regulator supports a wide 3.3–5.5 V input range, making it compatible with Arduino, micro:bit, ESP32, STM32, and other 3.3 V or 5 V development boards. For single-board computers like the Raspberry Pi, an external ADC is required to read the analogue output.
Key Features
- Waterproof Design – Fully sealed construction with laminate coating for long-term use in soil or water
- Capacitive Sensing – No exposed metal electrodes, greatly reducing corrosion compared to resistive sensors
- Wide Voltage Input – 3.3–5.5 V DC with onboard regulator, compatible with most microcontrollers
- Analogue Output – 0–3 V DC output proportional to soil moisture level
- Gravity Interface – Standard 3-pin 2.54 mm connector for easy wiring
- Extended Probe – 175 mm sensing length with 1.5 m cable
Specifications
- Supply Voltage – 3.3–5.5 V DC
- Output Voltage – 0–3 V DC
- Interface – 3-pin 2.54 mm (Gravity compatible)
- Cable Length – 1.5 m
