Gravity: I/O Expansion Shield for Pyboard

The Gravity I/O Expansion Shield for Pyboard connects your Pyboard v1.1 to the DFRobot Gravity sensor and module ecosystem with colour-coded plug-and-play connectors. No soldering is required — simply plug Gravity-compatible sensors and modules into the clearly labelled ports.

An onboard external power input and 3.3 V/VIN power switch allow the shield to drive higher-current components such as servos and motors through dedicated ports, while an onboard 3.3 V LDO powers the remaining ports and connected modules.

Key Features

  • Gravity-Compatible Connectors – Colour-coded, plug-and-play interface for Gravity sensors and modules
  • 12 Digital Ports – For switches, relays, and digital sensors
  • 8 Analogue Ports – 0–3.3 V input range
  • 1 Serial Port + 2 I2C Ports – For UART and I2C devices
  • External Power Support – 5–12 V input with 3.3 V/VIN switch for motor and servo ports (X1–X4)
  • Onboard 3.3 V LDO – Up to 500 mA output for connected modules
  • RST and USR Buttons – Accessible on-shield for easy reset and restore

Specifications

  • External Power Supply: 5–12 V DC, < 1 A
  • Signal Level: 3.3 V high, 0 V low
  • Analogue Input Range: 0–3.3 V
  • LDO Output: 3.3 V, < 500 mA
  • Board Size: 33 Ă— 42.6 mm
Warning: The Pyboard operates at 3.3 V — it does not support 5 V analogue input. When driving motors or servos, connect them to ports X1–X4, use an external power supply, and set the power switch to VIN. Powering high-current devices without external power may damage the Pyboard.
Note: When mounting the shield onto the Pyboard, align the shield's wire terminal with the USB port side of the Pyboard.
