IIC TO GPIO shield V2.0

The DFRobot IIC to GPIO Shield V2.0 (DFR0013) expands your Arduino's digital I/O capacity by converting a single I2C bus into 16 additional digital I/O ports. Using just two data lines (SCL and SDA), the shield frees up your existing pins for other tasks — essential for robotics, interactive media, and projects requiring many digital connections.

Each of the 16 GPIO ports includes an internal pull-up resistor. The shield supports configurable I2C addresses (0x20–0x27), allowing up to 8 modules to operate in parallel on the same bus for a total of 128 additional I/O ports.

Key Features

  • 16 Digital I/O Ports – Expand from just 2 I2C lines (SCL/SDA)
  • Internal Pull-Up Resistors – Built into all 16 GPIO ports
  • 8 Configurable Addresses – 0x20 to 0x27 for multi-module setups
  • Parallel Operation – Up to 8 modules on one I2C bus (128 I/O total)
  • Arduino Shield Form Factor – Plugs directly onto Arduino boards

Specifications

  • Supply Voltage – 5 V
  • I/O Ports – 16 digital (read/write)
  • Address Range – 0x20–0x27
  • Max Parallel Modules – 8
  • Dimensions – 56 × 53 mm

Ideal For

  • Robotics requiring many digital I/O connections
  • Interactive media installations
  • LED matrix and button grid projects
  • Expanding I/O on pin-limited Arduino boards
