MiniQ Robot chassis Encoder

An AB two-phase optical encoder designed for the DFRobot 2WD MiniQ robot chassis. Uses two infrared reflective sensors to generate quadrature pulse waveforms with approximately 90° phase difference, allowing you to determine both wheel speed and direction of rotation.

Mounts directly onto the motor bracket or mini robot chassis for PID speed control and position tracking. Works at 3.3 V or 5 V and connects via sensor cables for easy integration.

Key Features

  • AB Two-Phase Output – Determines both speed and direction of rotation
  • 12 Pulses Per Revolution – Infrared reflective sensing
  • 3.3 V or 5 V Operation – Dual voltage compatible
  • <14 mA Current Draw – At 5 V
  • Adjustable Sensitivity – Infrared receiver sensitivity tuneable via potentiometer
  • Compatible Wheel Size – 42 × 19 mm (1.65" × 0.75")
  • Sensor Cable Interface – Easy plug-and-play connection
Note: Infrared receiver sensitivity should be adjusted with an oscilloscope before use. To operate at 3.3 V, short resistor R4 on the board.

Ideal For

  • PID motor speed control on the MiniQ chassis
  • Wheel odometry and position tracking
  • Robotics projects requiring directional feedback
