Raspberry Pi GPIO Extension Board
A GPIO extension board for the Raspberry Pi with built-in voltage level conversion and protection circuitry. Unlike basic breakout boards, this extension uses 74HC244 and 74HC125 for GPIO level conversion and SI2303 for I2C level conversion, protecting the Raspberry Pi's CPU from damage caused by short circuits or voltage spikes on the GPIO pins.
The board breaks out all GPIO pins to a breadboard-compatible format with both 3.3 V and 5 V power outputs, making it compatible with most Arduino sensors and modules. Connects to the Raspberry Pi via the included 26-pin IDC ribbon cable.
Key Features
- Voltage Level Conversion – Bidirectional 3.3 V ↔ 5 V conversion for GPIOs, SPI, I2C, and serial
- GPIO Protection – Protects Raspberry Pi from voltage spikes and static discharge
- 3.3 V and 5 V Output – Dual voltage rails for powering sensors and modules
- Breadboard Compatible – Fits standard breadboards for easy prototyping
- Arduino Sensor Compatible – Use 5 V Arduino sensors safely with the Raspberry Pi
Specifications
- Level Conversion: 74HC244, 74HC125 (GPIO/SPI/UART), SI2303 (I2C)
- Power Output: 3.3 V and 5 V
- Dimensions: 50 × 40 × 20 mm
