SparkFun FM Tuner Basic Breakout - Si4703

The SparkFun FM Tuner Basic Breakout is built around the Silicon Labs Si4703 FM tuner IC, providing a full-featured FM radio receiver on a compact breakout board. Beyond standard FM reception, the Si4703 supports Radio Data Service (RDS) and Radio Broadcast Data Service (RBDS), enabling display of station identification, song names, and other broadcast metadata.

The Si4703 handles carrier detection and signal filtering on-chip, delivering reception quality comparable to a standard FM radio. All major pins are broken out with 0.1″ spacing for easy integration into breadboard or custom projects. An external amplifier and speaker are required — this board provides the tuner only.

Key Features

  • Si4703 FM Tuner IC – High-quality FM reception with on-chip filtering and carrier detection
  • RDS/RBDS Support – Receive station ID, song name, and other broadcast data
  • I²C Interface – Simple two-wire communication with microcontrollers
  • Compact Breakout – All major pins accessible on a 0.1″ grid
  • Arduino Library Available – SparkFun Arduino library for quick integration

Ideal For

  • Custom FM radio projects with RDS display
  • Adding FM reception to existing audio systems
  • Arduino and microcontroller radio experiments
