SparkX Qwiic RF - LoRa®-enabled 915MHz

The Qwiic RF is a LoRa-enabled packet radio board built around the HopeRF RFM95W module at 915 MHz. Designed for sending short sensor data packets from one Qwiic I2C bus to another — one board transmits, the other caches received messages until they are read over I2C.

Using only the included patch antenna, the board achieves up to approximately 2.5 km line-of-sight range in ideal conditions. For longer distances, a U.fl connector allows connection to an external high-gain antenna (jumper configuration required). The patch antenna can be snapped off to save space if not needed.

Key Features

  • LoRa 915 MHz Radio – HopeRF RFM95W module for long-range, low-power communication
  • ~2.5 km Range – Line-of-sight with the included patch antenna
  • Qwiic / I2C Interface – Send and receive packets over the Qwiic bus
  • Pairing Function – Paired radios exchange random addresses and network IDs for easy setup
  • Dual Antenna Options – On-board patch antenna (snap-off) plus U.fl connector for external antennas
  • Antenna Tuning Pads – 0603 component pads for matching and tuning adjustments

Specifications

  • Radio Module – HopeRF RFM95W (LoRa)
  • Frequency – 915 MHz
  • Interface – I2C (Qwiic connector)
  • Range – ~2.5 km line-of-sight (patch antenna)
  • Antenna – On-board patch (snap-off) + U.fl connector

Ideal For

  • Long-range wireless sensor networks
  • Remote environmental monitoring
