For better audio quality when playing music, consider using a USB audio card with your Raspberry Pi. This upgrade can greatly enhance sound quality and volume since the on-board audio is produced through a minimally filtered PWM output. While the built-in audio is convenient, a USB audio card can significantly improve your listening experience.

We recommend this particular USB audio dongle because it's compact and doesn't block the secondary USB port when connected. It works perfectly with the Raspberry Pi, and we’ve tested it successfully with Raspbian Wheezy & Jessie, though we don’t have tutorials for other operating systems.

This device also works well with Windows machines and should function with Macs. However, we primarily offer it for use with the Raspberry Pi.
