Weather Meters

A weather sensor kit containing the three core components of weather measurement: wind speed, wind direction, and rainfall. Ideal for building your own weather station for agricultural, meteorological, or hobbyist applications.

All sensors use sealed magnetic reed switches rather than active electronics, making them simple to interface with any microcontroller. Just supply a voltage and read the switch closures or resistance values. All sensors are terminated with RJ11 connectors.

Key Features

  • Wind Speed (Anemometer) – Switch closure once per rotation; 1.492 MPH = 1 closure per second
  • Wind Direction (Vane) – Voltage output via resistor combinations; up to 16 positions
  • Rainfall (Tipping Bucket) – Momentary switch closure per 0.011" (0.2794 mm) of rain
  • Passive Sensors – No active electronics; sealed magnetic reed switches for reliability
  • RJ11 Connectors – All sensors terminated with RJ11 cables

Specifications

  • Assembled Dimensions: 28.5 × 8" (72.4 × 20.3 cm)
  • Sensor Type: Magnetic reed switches (passive)
  • Connections: RJ11 terminated cables

Ideal For

  • DIY weather stations
  • Agricultural and environmental monitoring
  • Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and microcontroller projects
  • STEM education and meteorology studies

Package Contents

  • 1× Wind Vane
  • 1× Cup Anemometer
  • 1× Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge
  • 1× Two-Part Mounting Mast
  • 1× Rain Gauge Mounting Arm
  • 1× Wind Meter Mounting Bar
  • 2× Mounting Clamps
  • 4× Zip Ties
Note: Some basic assembly is required. No active electronics or microcontroller included.
