This Wifi Shield utilizes a RN171 which is a complete, standalone TCP/IP wireless network module, to provides your Arduino/Crowduino internet connectivity via 2-pin serial port. Also, on the board there is an on-board micro SD slot ready for your store your data, making you applications such as weather monitoring easily!
