PocketBeagle - Pocket Size BeagleBone Linux Computer
The PocketBeagle is an ultra-compact, open-source Linux single-board computer powered by the AM3358 processor running at 1 GHz. Using a system-in-package design with integrated processor and RAM on a single chip, it delivers full BeagleBone functionality in a pocket-sized form factor.
Despite its compact size, the PocketBeagle breaks out 72 expansion pins with extensive I/O: multiple I2C, SPI, and UART peripherals, hardware PWMs, 8 analogue inputs, and 44 digital I/Os. It also includes two 200 MHz PRU (Programmable Real-time Unit) microcontrollers for handling time-critical tasks such as driving RGB matrix displays or NeoPixels.
Key Features
- AM3358 Processor – 1 GHz ARM Cortex-A8 with integrated RAM
- 72 Expansion Pins – 8 analogue inputs, 44 digital I/Os, multiple I2C/SPI/UART
- Dual PRU Coprocessors – Two 200 MHz real-time units for time-critical applications
- Hardware PWM – Built-in PWM outputs
- Native USB – High-speed USB connection for programming and communication
- USB Host Support – Wire a USB A socket to broken-out host pins (VI, D+, D−, ID, GND) for Ethernet, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi dongles
- microSD Card Slot – Boot and run Debian Linux from a microSD card (4 GB minimum)
- Ultra-Compact – Pocket-sized form factor
Ideal For
- Embedded Linux projects in space-constrained applications
- Real-time I/O with PRU coprocessors
- IoT and connected device prototyping
